About Us

What is the IRG and who is IPLS?

The International Resuscitation Group (IRG) is an independent voluntary body that aims to improve paediatric resuscitation skills and knowledge amongst medical and nursing staff in developing countries. It received its Certificate of Incorporation in South Australia (under the Associations Incorporation Act 1985) on the 17th of October 2017.
Its flagship product is the International Paediatric Life Support (IPLS) Course which provides essential training for healthcare rescuers who may be involved in the initial resuscitation of infants and children in respiratory or cardiac arrest. The IPLS Course also aims to improve the early management of acutely unwell children in developing countries.
The IPLS team is a group of volunteer healthcare professionals from Australasia who provide the course and its materials, and travel to Iraq to train local providers and instructors. Within Iraq there are several instructors at six IPLS centres who continue to provide local training. The IPLS course is also being provided to medical students at Adelaide Medical School in South Australia.
